Time Inc.

A Michigan federal judge has certified a Class of Michigan residents who purchased a subscription to Time, Fortune, or Real Simple magazines through third-party websites between March 31, 2009 and Nov. 15, 2013. If you fit this description, your rights may be affected by a class action lawsuit.

The Time magazine subscription class action lawsuit was filed by plaintiff Rose Coulter-Owens. She asserts that Time Inc., the publisher of Time, Fortune, and Real Simple magazines, improperly shared consumer information with third party marketing companies when consumers purchased the magazine subscriptions through websites other than www.Time.com, www.Fortune.com, and www.RealSimple.com.

Coulter-Owens alleges that this conduct by Time violates Michigan’s Video Rental Privacy Act (VRPA), which prohibits the disclosure of customers’ reading choices. Time denies that it violated the law and continues to fight the class action lawsuit.

If you wish to exclude yourself from this Michigan magazine subscription class action lawsuit, you must do so no later than Dec. 9, 2015.
