Current and former customers allege that T-Mobile engaged in deceptive pricing practices related to its “Regulatory Programs & Telco Recovery Fee.”

These claims include allegations that:

  • T-Mobile charged a monthly “Regulatory Programs & Telco Recovery Fee” without clearly disclosing it at sign-up. The fee is currently $4.49 per voice line and $2.10 per data-only line, which significantly increases the true service cost above the advertised price.
  • The fee was expanded to more customers over time. Beginning in July 2025, T-Mobile started applying the fee to all new postpaid T-Mobile Wireless plans and new T-Mobile Home Internet plans.
  • The amount of the fee increased repeatedly. Most recently, T-Mobile raised the fee twice within a year — by $0.50 in April 2025 and another $0.50 in January 2026 — adding an extra $1.00 per line per month.
  • The fee was hidden or obscured on customer bills. Customers allege the charge was difficult to identify and was named and presented in a way that made it appear to be a government-imposed charge, when it was actually invented by T-Mobile.

These alleged practices may have caused T-Mobile customers to pay substantial overcharges month after month, giving affected subscribers potential grounds to bring claims and seek to recover those amounts.

You may qualify to take legal action over T-Mobile deceptive fees if both of the following apply to you:

  • You are a current or former T-Mobile Wireless or T-Mobile Home Internet customer, and
  • You were charged a “Regulatory Programs & Telco Recovery Fee” on your monthly bill.
