Frontier Airlines misleads consumers into believing they are purchasing lower-priced airfare than they actually are and isn’t upfront about its bag fees, a new class action lawsuit alleges.

Plaintiff Amira Hamad claims Frontier “makes up whatever discount it purports” by hitting its customers with “fraudulent and unwarranted charges” related to fees for personal items and checked and carry-on bags.

“FRONTIER’s bait-and-switch and ‘gotcha’ tactics are designed to confuse, trick, and trap consumers to the public’s detriment,” the Frontier class action states.

Hamad wants to represent a nationwide class of consumers.

Frontier intentionally hides bag fees, other charges from consumers, class action says

Hamad argues Frontier “does not make its fee structure clear” to its customers at the time they purchase tickets, and that it is even more unclear when a purchase is made with a third-party vendor.

Further, Frontier is accused of intentionally hiding fees from consumers as a way to “fraudulently induce sales.”

“FRONTIER’s fees are not conspicuously shown on its website or on the websites of third-party vendors, and consumers are often unaware of FRONTIER’s large and plentiful fees until after they purchase a ticket that initially appeared attractive,” the Frontier class action states.

Hamad claims Frontier is guilty of breach of contract and fraudulent misrepresentation, under Florida common law, and of violating the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act and Florida laws regarding misleading advertising.

Plaintiff is demanding a jury trial and requesting declaratory relief along with an award of actual and punitive damages for herself and all class members.

In another case involving a company called Frontier, a class action lawsuit was filed against Frontier Communications in 2020 by a consumer arguing the cable company charges more than what its customers agreed to pay for its services.

Bought Go wild pass.wss told we could fly a penny a fight. After buying we found out we could not pick our seats bring on a carry on other than purse unless you paid extra. if you don’t have a non stop you have to play the seat and luggage. Fee for every stop over. So if it cost 65 dollars for luggage and you have 1 so top over thn you pay the 65 dollars again and again for the way home!

    1. michael says:

In the offer it was very clearly stated that seats and bags not included as well as the fact you could only book the day before the flight. I fly the airline every 2-3 weeks and passed on this offer as soon as I read it
Even as an elite flyer with free carry on and seat selection the book the day before was the killer.

  2. Courtney Jefferson says:

I’ve flown several times and all the extra fees for carry on / personal items were not explained and I paid so much smh both times

  3. Jason Payne says:

They are by far the worse. They took my money and charged me up fees to get home because of “ clerical issues”

  4. Rahul Bedi says:

I just got off on a cruise ship and went straight to fort Lauderdale airport to catch my flight back to Ohio. When Priceline sent me a notice to say my flight was cancelled by frontier.
Frontier cancelled my flight because they were over booked. I asked for a refund and they said no cause I cancelled my trip. I was stranded at the airport until I had to purchase another flight ticket for 2 people which cost me $250 plus luggage cost $89 a piece. I paid Priceline for my tickets o fort Lauderdale and back to Cleveland Ohio it cost me $ 644 for 2 ppl. I want what I paid for extra tickets get home , plus what I had already paid them .

  9. Tanya says:

I agree they are deceptive with their prices. After adding the baggage and taxes you are better off flying with another upgraded airline for the same price.

  10. Randall Hyde says:

It cost more to ship your luggage than it does to ship yourself. And don’t make tje mistake I made by not buying the canceling insurance. They will not refund one cent. There is no one to talk to and no customer service. The air line is only good if you want to fly yourself with no bags and your not overweight. If your overweight you may be required to purchase another seat but you won’t know until you board the aircraft. I just csncelled my flight and lost 400 plus dollars never again

    1. Drina jones says:

Yes I just flew frontier in June from
New Orleans to Orlando my dads carry on bag have gone on every airline without a fee except for frontier we flew back home on spirit he used the same bag and didn’t have to pay a fee that was absolutely ridiculous that trip was my first time flying frontier and may be and last time flying frontier ijs
