Frontier Airlines misleads consumers into believing they are purchasing lower-priced airfare than they actually are and isn’t upfront about its bag fees, a new class action lawsuit alleges.

Plaintiff Amira Hamad claims Frontier “makes up whatever discount it purports” by hitting its customers with “fraudulent and unwarranted charges” related to fees for personal items and checked and carry-on bags.

“FRONTIER’s bait-and-switch and ‘gotcha’ tactics are designed to confuse, trick, and trap consumers to the public’s detriment,” the Frontier class action states.

Hamad wants to represent a nationwide class of consumers.

Frontier intentionally hides bag fees, other charges from consumers, class action says

Hamad argues Frontier “does not make its fee structure clear” to its customers at the time they purchase tickets, and that it is even more unclear when a purchase is made with a third-party vendor.

Further, Frontier is accused of intentionally hiding fees from consumers as a way to “fraudulently induce sales.”

“FRONTIER’s fees are not conspicuously shown on its website or on the websites of third-party vendors, and consumers are often unaware of FRONTIER’s large and plentiful fees until after they purchase a ticket that initially appeared attractive,” the Frontier class action states.

Hamad claims Frontier is guilty of breach of contract and fraudulent misrepresentation, under Florida common law, and of violating the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act and Florida laws regarding misleading advertising.

Plaintiff is demanding a jury trial and requesting declaratory relief along with an award of actual and punitive damages for herself and all class members.

In another case involving a company called Frontier, a class action lawsuit was filed against Frontier Communications in 2020 by a consumer arguing the cable company charges more than what its customers agreed to pay for its services.

  1. Michael Lee says:

Add me. I purchased a ticket based off the advertisement for a very low fee anywhere. When I opened up the site and put in my trip information, that price went up. Although it was still very low, it changed. Then I was asked to purchase a bundle package for Personal, carry-on and checked baggage and to pick my own seat which rose the price considerably.

  2. BRIAN STONE says:

I recently purchased 2 round-trip tickets from frontier and seat and bag charges were thrown in and made the price triple

I also was a victim of the scam. I ordered a ticket back in April for travel in July. Was charged for baggage when I only had a carry on. Also was told if I needed to talk to a rep. On the phone that was a charge also. Sits we’re charge, food was charged I would of been better off flying with a different airline.

I am a victim of Frontier Airlines bait and switch. I filed a complaint with DOT and it is on file. How do I get in on this lawsuit?

  9. Jana A says:

Frontier has scammed me and my family out of hundreds of dollars. We purchased the “go wild” pass and have tried every day for over a month to get tickets but none are available. When I reached out to Frontier, they said too bad, no refunds.

  10. Rachel Quintanilla says:

We were told that our luggage was included with purchase of tickets. Once there were told luggage was not included and charged. We were are told this charge included luggage to return from destination. On our way back home were charged again 800 for our luggage to be returned. They also included a representative fee x2 because it was my boyfriend and myself speaking to the rep., which he did not tell us of the fee. We only found out when we received breakdown of fees via email once we landed home. To make things worse the doors closed on us we got to airplane and not allowed on. We lost our flight home and because my boyfriend had work the next day had not choice but to purchase another flight thru American Airlines which cost us over 1100. Frontier Airlines made our weekend getaway to Vegas a night mare. We have been fighting these charges with your bank and credit card to no avail. PLEASE HELP!!!!
