Frontier Airlines misleads consumers into believing they are purchasing lower-priced airfare than they actually are and isn’t upfront about its bag fees, a new class action lawsuit alleges.

Plaintiff Amira Hamad claims Frontier “makes up whatever discount it purports” by hitting its customers with “fraudulent and unwarranted charges” related to fees for personal items and checked and carry-on bags.

“FRONTIER’s bait-and-switch and ‘gotcha’ tactics are designed to confuse, trick, and trap consumers to the public’s detriment,” the Frontier class action states.

Hamad wants to represent a nationwide class of consumers.

Frontier intentionally hides bag fees, other charges from consumers, class action says

Hamad argues Frontier “does not make its fee structure clear” to its customers at the time they purchase tickets, and that it is even more unclear when a purchase is made with a third-party vendor.

Further, Frontier is accused of intentionally hiding fees from consumers as a way to “fraudulently induce sales.”

“FRONTIER’s fees are not conspicuously shown on its website or on the websites of third-party vendors, and consumers are often unaware of FRONTIER’s large and plentiful fees until after they purchase a ticket that initially appeared attractive,” the Frontier class action states.

Hamad claims Frontier is guilty of breach of contract and fraudulent misrepresentation, under Florida common law, and of violating the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act and Florida laws regarding misleading advertising.

Plaintiff is demanding a jury trial and requesting declaratory relief along with an award of actual and punitive damages for herself and all class members.

In another case involving a company called Frontier, a class action lawsuit was filed against Frontier Communications in 2020 by a consumer arguing the cable company charges more than what its customers agreed to pay for its services.

Same thing happened to me when I purchased 2 tickers at the end of May 2023. One carry cost me $78 each way. I was furious. The cheap ticket ended up not so cheap! I have never paid that much for 1 carry on bag. I will never use them again.

  2. Torrance Hooker says:

Me trying to get in on this class action after Frontier did me dirty by charging me around $200 in carry on fees last October even though my one and only bag I took fit under the seat in front of me

I would like to join this lawsuit, and I am continuously having issues with frontier. I purchased the all you can fly pass have been unable to find any trips, even on the non- black out dates, etc. This has been a total disaster and a big scam for a lot of people.

    1. Craig Baker says:

I bought the Go Wild Pass in May. I have never been able to use it it’s a complete scam. No matter what I’ve tried a flight is never available. It’s like trying to win a prize at a rigged carnival contest

  4. Trystian says:

I would like to join this lawsuit as they are not a budget airline as advertised on third party sites charging more than before with a lower weight limit is robbery. They are advertising low fairs but not letting people know you have to pay an additional $150 per person round trip. Bad business.

  5. Joann Puricelli says:

I was supposed to fly frontier on June 30th to see my grandchildren. But i broken my elbow and shoulder and was in the hospital and sent them the information from dr saying i was unable to fly because i was in surgery. Frontier told my son they would refund the money after a month no refund was ever made. I reached out to them and was told they couldnt refund but could give me a travel voucher. which are a joke. Frontier is a ripoff airline.

  7. Angela Murchinson says:

I definitely know they overcharge you for everything even a print of boarding pass I was boarding plane had their app up at the time to scan was placed in lines so they can size passengers personal item who does thar but anyway by the time I made it to the representative to scan it wouldn’t she told me to get in another line and I needed to pay for a printed pass that’s only tip of iceberg they canceled my flight and I’ve yet to get refunded

  8. Diane Davis says:

Traveled to Chicago in May. U buy your ticket and when you check in, you are asked for money to pick your seat, to check a bag, plus delayed boarding as they stop EVERY customer with a carry-on, to approve their bag size! Not happy and will not fly frontier again. Read recently that Frontier gives their employees an extra $10 for every bag called out of line for oversize. Ridiculous.

  9. Latoshia LEGGETT says:

I need help Over charge in my bag. All you can fly.GO WILD PASS I WANT TO DO THE LAWSUIT TOO

  10. Sophia Johnson-Frazer says:

I had 2 flights with them recently with prices that changed drastically. Mind you I had to change my travel plans because they changed my flight time to 8hours earlier. I had to book another flight to get where I was going and 2 one way flights with Frontier to get back. I had to fuss with them over a hour in chat and threaten not to use their services in the future to get a voucher to cover my bag costs.

    1. Initial price was $356 and I end up paying a total of $560.00
    2. Initial price $75 turned into $318.00
