Frontier Airlines misleads consumers into believing they are purchasing lower-priced airfare than they actually are and isn’t upfront about its bag fees, a new class action lawsuit alleges.

Plaintiff Amira Hamad claims Frontier “makes up whatever discount it purports” by hitting its customers with “fraudulent and unwarranted charges” related to fees for personal items and checked and carry-on bags.

“FRONTIER’s bait-and-switch and ‘gotcha’ tactics are designed to confuse, trick, and trap consumers to the public’s detriment,” the Frontier class action states.

Hamad wants to represent a nationwide class of consumers.

Frontier intentionally hides bag fees, other charges from consumers, class action says

Hamad argues Frontier “does not make its fee structure clear” to its customers at the time they purchase tickets, and that it is even more unclear when a purchase is made with a third-party vendor.

Further, Frontier is accused of intentionally hiding fees from consumers as a way to “fraudulently induce sales.”

“FRONTIER’s fees are not conspicuously shown on its website or on the websites of third-party vendors, and consumers are often unaware of FRONTIER’s large and plentiful fees until after they purchase a ticket that initially appeared attractive,” the Frontier class action states.

Hamad claims Frontier is guilty of breach of contract and fraudulent misrepresentation, under Florida common law, and of violating the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act and Florida laws regarding misleading advertising.

Plaintiff is demanding a jury trial and requesting declaratory relief along with an award of actual and punitive damages for herself and all class members.

In another case involving a company called Frontier, a class action lawsuit was filed against Frontier Communications in 2020 by a consumer arguing the cable company charges more than what its customers agreed to pay for its services.

  1. Tanya K says:

One time about 5-6 yrs ago I tried them once leaving Las Vegas direct to Houston. She is completely accurate in her assertion of the unclear and misleading fees structure. What was supposed to be a ‘cheap ticket home early’ ended up costing me $400. Lesson learned #FrontierSucks

  2. Chauntyle A Johnson says:

I just booked a flight from Ontario to Vegas on July 9th, my original ticket showed 60 round trip, but after paying for my carry on for round trip, that was 63 both ways I end up paying almost 300, and not to mention my flight was delayed on day of departure for 4hrs.

  3. Tesheba Jones says:

Yes I booked 2 flights from little rock to Vegas add me. I had trouble with my boarding passes then that tried to charge me 50 more dollars to have my boarding pass printed and 200 if our bags was over.

  4. Vanessa Johnson says:

We booked a flight on Frontier Airlines in April 2023 and received decent low priced tickets only to get to Detroit Metro airport to check in and was told we had to check in our bags and were charged an extra $60 per bag so we ended up spending an extra $240.00 round trip on our baggage.

  5. Kristy Hart says:

Booked flights for 2 thinking it was a reasonable price. After extra fees and $500+ is luggage and carry on fees, I could’ve flown with a much better airline. False advertising for sure!

  6. Angela R Richardson says:

I was unfairly charged extra fees

    1. Juan C. says:

Yes, I booked a flight to Las Vegas from Orlando, FL. After paying for bag checking and carrying on the flight was no longer inexpensive.

  7. Carrisa Westmoreland says:

Not only do they charge these baggage and carryon fees, they offer great flights to get you to book, but then cancel the flight and book you on another flight without horrible layovers automatically and not having a live customer service agent to talk to makes it incredibly difficult to work out a resolution. Spent hours on an online chat trying to fix flights.

  8. Thomas Caldwell says:

The changes to the reservation were not made by me nor was I notified until we checked as the plans got closer. We do NOT have an email starting with the letter “J” that the agent we spoke to on the phone stated where we were notified.
YES, cancel these reservations for both passenger’s as you described above July 12, 2023, traveling from Portland- Denver Denver- Las Vegas and on July 16, 2023, from Las Vegas- Portland., which are completely different than what we could travel when we made our reservations, due to YOUR actions failing to notifying us about the changes, not ours.

Frontier airlines owe me and I demand a full refund of the purchase price.

We are including the U. S. Department of Transportation in this communication for transparency and potentially additional sanctions against Frontier Airlines.

  9. John says:

Add me, I have lots of complaints about that and delays
