Frontier Airlines misleads consumers into believing they are purchasing lower-priced airfare than they actually are and isn’t upfront about its bag fees, a new class action lawsuit alleges.

Plaintiff Amira Hamad claims Frontier “makes up whatever discount it purports” by hitting its customers with “fraudulent and unwarranted charges” related to fees for personal items and checked and carry-on bags.

“FRONTIER’s bait-and-switch and ‘gotcha’ tactics are designed to confuse, trick, and trap consumers to the public’s detriment,” the Frontier class action states.

Hamad wants to represent a nationwide class of consumers.

Frontier intentionally hides bag fees, other charges from consumers, class action says

Hamad argues Frontier “does not make its fee structure clear” to its customers at the time they purchase tickets, and that it is even more unclear when a purchase is made with a third-party vendor.

Further, Frontier is accused of intentionally hiding fees from consumers as a way to “fraudulently induce sales.”

“FRONTIER’s fees are not conspicuously shown on its website or on the websites of third-party vendors, and consumers are often unaware of FRONTIER’s large and plentiful fees until after they purchase a ticket that initially appeared attractive,” the Frontier class action states.

Hamad claims Frontier is guilty of breach of contract and fraudulent misrepresentation, under Florida common law, and of violating the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act and Florida laws regarding misleading advertising.

Plaintiff is demanding a jury trial and requesting declaratory relief along with an award of actual and punitive damages for herself and all class members.

In another case involving a company called Frontier, a class action lawsuit was filed against Frontier Communications in 2020 by a consumer arguing the cable company charges more than what its customers agreed to pay for its services.

Yes when you checking in they make you pay all these charges that’s they don’t state when you originally buy the tickets. The people are rude and they stole stuff out my luggage. They are a fraud for sure.

I subscribed to their frontier program for cheaper seats…. then flew a couple times. ended up costing me just as much if i would have just flown southwest or jet blue after fees, baggage, etc.

I just recently brought frontier airline tickets for my daughter, my disabled mother and myself. Upon checking in I was forced to pay for seats to avoid my mother having to walk to the back of the plane. Where her free seat was assigned. The return flight was the same and I paid an additional 150 to get three seats together in the middle section. They also tried to charge me 100 dollars for my bag being 5 pound over the 40 pound limit. Thank god I had room in my mom’s bag. I’m done with frontier by the time I finished paying for seats and bags each way I could have went with American and got two free checked bags.

I had purchased a total of 3 flights due to bad weather in ft Lauderdale 4/13/23. Online they gave me no option but to cancel 2 flights and repurchase a 3rd.

I disputed the charges but BOA/spirit held me responsible

I am disabled (hearing impaired) on the outbound flight 4/8/23 the flight attendant told other passengers loudly enough that I was DEAF.. I wrote to frontier airline with no reply. What ever happened to privacy and the Hippa law.. I’m seeking an attorney for public humiliation.

I purchased a Frontier Go Wild! Pass and I’ve not been able to use it because Frontier offers zero GoWild! Pass flights out of Jacksonville, although there were many flight trips promised out of Jax when the pass was advertised.

  9. Rose L says:

I purchase 3 tickets for 7/19/23 to attend an event on 7/20/23. Frontier changed the outbound date so that I would arrive on 7/20/23,without my consent. Then when I spoke to Customer service in India of course. The rep canceled my seats then informed me I.would receive $115.00 of the $849.00 that I had paid. After contacting my credit card, notifying the FCC and filing a formal complaint and waiting 3 months they returned the entire amount amount to the credit card. I will not fly Frontier ever again. By the time you pay 80 to 100 for suit case you may as well fly one of the other airlines who have internet movies and some drinks for free. Oh also they charge if you are 1 oz over 40 pounds. They decreased the weight limit, so now you only have 30-35 lbs for clothing once you subtract the suitcase weight. A real rip off.
