Frontier Airlines misleads consumers into believing they are purchasing lower-priced airfare than they actually are and isn’t upfront about its bag fees, a new class action lawsuit alleges.

Plaintiff Amira Hamad claims Frontier “makes up whatever discount it purports” by hitting its customers with “fraudulent and unwarranted charges” related to fees for personal items and checked and carry-on bags.

“FRONTIER’s bait-and-switch and ‘gotcha’ tactics are designed to confuse, trick, and trap consumers to the public’s detriment,” the Frontier class action states.

Hamad wants to represent a nationwide class of consumers.

Frontier intentionally hides bag fees, other charges from consumers, class action says

Hamad argues Frontier “does not make its fee structure clear” to its customers at the time they purchase tickets, and that it is even more unclear when a purchase is made with a third-party vendor.

Further, Frontier is accused of intentionally hiding fees from consumers as a way to “fraudulently induce sales.”

“FRONTIER’s fees are not conspicuously shown on its website or on the websites of third-party vendors, and consumers are often unaware of FRONTIER’s large and plentiful fees until after they purchase a ticket that initially appeared attractive,” the Frontier class action states.

Hamad claims Frontier is guilty of breach of contract and fraudulent misrepresentation, under Florida common law, and of violating the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act and Florida laws regarding misleading advertising.

Plaintiff is demanding a jury trial and requesting declaratory relief along with an award of actual and punitive damages for herself and all class members.

In another case involving a company called Frontier, a class action lawsuit was filed against Frontier Communications in 2020 by a consumer arguing the cable company charges more than what its customers agreed to pay for its services.

Please add me. I have flown with them in the last 2 years and I did get charged for my back pack. I had used that same bag before. I felt targeted. Then I saw in the news about the employee incentive for bags charged. Another time at the counter she wanted to charge me for both and they may have been a tight fit but they were in. She was right beside me repeating “it doesn’t fit, it doesn’t fit!” So she proceeded to charge me for one and compensated me with changing my zone that would allow me the other. She knew she should not have charged me at all but she wanted the bonus so she she helped herself and did that upgrade because I was very upset. So I have been charged twice unnecessarily.

Frontier never told me about all of their fees before I bought their ticket.

I flew on frontier and I had to pay for my bag twice there’s been times they charge way too much for luggage when you already paid for it. There are hidden fees they don’t let you know about then when you get to the airport you have to pay extra.

  7. DAWN UNDERWOOD says:

I flew this airlines a d was charged for my seat and carryon bag. I called customer service and ask what my 328 paid for si ce I had to pay for the extras and she stated it was their base price. Told them u will ne er fly their garbage airlines again. Also our flight was 2 hrs delayed because of a broken seat belt. All they did was put a sign up not to sit there then had to wait for clearance for the paperwork to take off never again will inuse them

  9. Yanira says:

Frontier is rude to its customers. I will never fly them again. I flew them this year and had a question and was met with the most rude and unprofessional Ticket agent. He was rolling his eyes when I speaking to him and acted like I was an inconvenience. This was at the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport.

    1. Frank J Stocum says:

I flew this grabage airline 3 times and got ripped off each time the last time was just that the last time. I got a partial payment back from my last cancellation.

  10. Kyle Blietz says:

    Such a scam!!!

Their website was down and would not not let me check in so I talked to the booking agent and they told me $25 bucks to check me in because I was just talking to them. Their screw up and I had to pay.

Another time I added a carry on bag a week before my flight. Then when I checked in it showed no carry on. So I added a carry on again, they charged me, then after I paid and checked in it showed 2 carry ons. Refused to give me a refund.

So frustrating. I paid $500 for this go wild pass and still end up paying more than full price anytime when I fly.
