Henry Ford Health agreed to a class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims it shared patient data with third parties without consent.

The Henry Ford Health settlement benefits patients of Henry Ford Health who had a MyChart patient portal account between Jan. 1, 2020, and Dec. 31, 2023.

According to the MyChart privacy class action lawsuit, Henry Ford Health shared patient data with third parties such as Google and Facebook without patient consent. This unsanctioned sharing of information allegedly violated federal and state privacy laws.

Henry Ford Health is a Michigan-based healthcare system with over 550 sites and 50,000 team members.

Henry Ford Health has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay an undisclosed sum to resolve the privacy class action lawsuit.

Under the terms of the Henry Ford Health settlement, class members can receive a $15 cash payment. In addition to cash payments, class members will receive a code to enroll in the Privacy Shield Pro product. This product provides additional privacy protections to class members.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is Aug. 11, 2025.

The final approval hearing for the MyChart privacy settlement is scheduled for Oct. 7, 2025.

To receive settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by Aug. 25, 2025.
