Zoloft PPHN Birth Defect Leads to Lawsuit
By Andrea Gressman
Pfizer has been hit with a birth defect lawsuit filed by a mother who took the SSRI antidepressant Zoloft during pregnancy. Plaintiff Lauri Serrano alleges in the lawsuit that Zoloft was the medication at fault and that Pfizer, the drug’s manufacturer, was the responsible party. The Zoloft birth defect lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Pennsylvania on behalf of Serrano and her son.
According to the Zoloft lawsuit, Serrano’s son was born with the birth defect PPHN (persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn).
