Yasmin DVT Side Effects: How to Self Diagnose

By John Curran

Yaz Yasmin blood clotsDual-hormone contraceptives have been linked to the increase in Yasmin deep vein thrombosis (DVT) conditions. Blood clotting has enough of a scientific basis that Bayer Pharmaceutical is paying out hundreds of millions of dollars in Yaz/Yasmin injury lawsuit settlements.

Money, however, is not nearly as important as women being able to avoid these painful and difficult-to-treat conditions in the first place. Not taking these birth control pills is one option. The other is to know what to look for to prevent further damage from Yasmin blood clots.

Yasmin deep vein thrombosis side effects are only recognizable about half the time, unfortunately. However, being vigilant is important. There are visual signs that a blood clot has formed, in terms of a darkened patch of skin, usually on limbs. It will likely also feel tender to the touch, and like a knot similar to a tightened muscle.

Anything like this is reason to make an immediate doctor’s appointment, as well as any change in skin temperature at any one site. Unlike wiggling one’s feet on a jet, serious treatment is required for DVT and related Yasmin blood clot side effects.

Blood thinners have adverse events profiles of their own, but are necessary to prevent these clots from traveling. Deep vein thrombosis is localized, but the congealed blood can break off and travel throughout the body, leading to pulmonary embolisms or strokes depending on where they end up. Yaz blood clot side effects have affected thousands of women, and as noted, DVT can only be self-diagnosed about half the time.

Many of the claims filed by Yasmin lawsuit lawyers relate to these clotting issues. However, many women are also dealing with Yaz gallbladder cancer concerns as a result of increased cholesterol. Bayer is paying for blood clot victims, but those who have cancer may still have to go to court for any legal remedy they deserve.

There are a number of conditions faced by women who have taken these medications even beyond Yaz gallbladder cancer side effects.
