Mirena IUD Causes Infertility in 23-year-old Woman

By John Curran

Mirena IUD infertility Having a child early on in life may not always be part of the plan, so younger mothers often consider birth control so they can plan the rest of their families. In the case of one 23-year-old woman, the last child she will be able to have was four years ago, when she was 19. That’s because she now suffers infertility side effects caused by her Mirena intrauterine device (IUD).

Device manufacturer Bayer Pharmaceutical says that the Mirena IUD is safe. It is why many people, like the young woman, have an IUD inserted, generally after they have already been pregnant. Unfortunately, even with the risk of Mirena IUD side effects, she had a miscarriage just over a year after the device’s insertion. A year after that, thanks to the IUD, her gynecologist told her she was unable to have children.

Many healthcare professionals believe Bayer and say that Mirena IUD infertility side effects are extremely rare. Unfortunately for women, they do not always warn patients of these problems. More problematic is that Bayer still does not admit that the device can lead to Mirena IUD spontaneous migration side effects. It can sometimes move beyond the cervix and uterus throughout the pelvic region, leading to scarring and other problems that can trigger infertility.

Young single mothers may be the worst hit. After the shock of an unexpected pregnancy, oftentimes before they graduate high school, many are looking to do the right thing and care for the children that they do have. Mirena IUD side effects, though, can lead to unnecessary scarring and other damage. In the case of the 23-year-old victim mentioned above, she says she is happy that she has two children to raise with her husband, but wanted one more with him personally. That seems unlikely to happen now.

Women need to be aware of these potential side effects of Mirena, as hundreds of lawsuits are expected to be joined together by Mirena IUD multidistrict litigation (MDL) lawyers. Considering that the maker won’t admit to certain risks like Mirena IUD spontaneous migration problems, competent legal representation is a must.
