Lawsuit Says NuvaRing Caused Pulmonary Embolism After Only 2 Months
By Mike Holter
Another NuvaRing lawsuit has been filed against the contraceptive device’s manufacturer, Organon, by a woman who suffered a severe blood clot injury a mere two months after using the device.Plaintiff Stephanie Heap alleges in the NuvaRing lawsuit that she began using the birth control device in February 2009. By April, she was experiencing shortness of breath and was later diagnosed with bilateral pulmonary emboli, commonly known as pulmonary embolism (PE). PE is a potentially fatal blood clot in the lungs that can cause symptoms of sharp chest pain, shortness of breath and coughing up blood. Heap’s lawsuit alleges Organon failed to inform consumers and the medical community about the risk for NuvaRing blood clots and related injuries, including pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis, heart attack and stroke. At least 950 NuvaRing lawsuits have been filed seeking compensation from Organon for NuvaRing side effects.
