In-Depth Look at Zithromax Side Effects

Zithromax is frequently used as a treatment option for many types of bacterial infections. Some of these conditions include the following:
- Ear infections
- Skin infections
- Sexually transmitted diseases
- Respiratory infections
However, there are a number of very serious side effects when it comes to the use of Zithromax. Some of these include the following:
- Burning in your eyes
- Chest pain
- Clay-colored stools
- Dark urine
- Diarrhea that is watery or bloody
- Difficulty breathing
- Fever
- Hives
- Jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes)
- Loss of appetite
- Low fever
- Nausea
- Red or purple skin rash that spreads (especially in the face or upper body) and causes blistering and peeling
- Severe skin reaction
- Skin pain
- Sore throat
- Stomach pain
- Swelling of your face lips, tongue, or throat
- Uneven heartbeats
These are all serious side effects and if they are experienced they need to be reported to the patient’s medical care provider as soon possible. Many of these Zithromax side effects are signs of a condition called Stevens Johnson Syndrome (SJS) or toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN), which is the more severe form of SJS. These conditions are both very painful and life threatening and can lead to long-term side effects.
The less serious side effects Zithromax has been associated with include the following:
- Constipation
- Decreased sense of taste or smell
- Diarrhea
- Dizziness
- Headache
- Mild itching or skin rash
- Mild nausea
- Nervous feeling
- Problems with hearing
- Ringing in your ears
- Sleep problems (insomnia)
- Stomach pain or upset
- Tired feeling
- Vaginal itching or discharge
- Vomiting
It is important to note that this is not an exclusive list of Zithromax and Z-Pak side effects. So, if you do experience any adverse side effects you need to contact you physician right away.
There have been many reports of Z-Pak users experiencing severe side effects across the United States. As mentioned above, Stevens Johnson Syndrome (SJS) has been linked to Zithromax use as well as heart complications. Unfortunately, patients go on to use Zithromax without being fully informed prior to using the medication. I have had many zpaks because I am allergic to penicillin. This past time I had trouble with my eyes and several other symptoms. I want to join the class action suit. Thanks in advance, Debbie Henry
