blue, white and gold pillsA number of different HIV drugs have been linked to side effects that patients say they weren’t led to expect. Patients currently making use of a Viread dosage should be aware of the problems.

This class of common HIV medications including Truvada, Complera, Atripla, Stribild, and Viread has been connected to a number of different painful bone density and kidney side effects.

The Viread dosage is based in line with recommendations from the manufacturer Gilead, and more patients have come forward in recent months to complain about kidney failure, kidney damage, and chronic kidney disease.

Furthermore, many other patients using Viread have reportedly suffered from bone demineralization as a result of their compromised bone density. In certain situations, this demineralization has reportedly led to bone fractures.

The manufacturer, Gilead, is responsible for making numerous different HIV drugs. Users currently taking the recommended Viread dosage might not be aware of the risks of these side effects.

These medications are anti-retroviral drugs known as NRTIs. The purpose of these medications is to help prevent the HIV virus in the body from replicating in a patient who already has the disease. Discontinuing the replication process is crucial because it stops the disease from being transmitted and can assist with the patient’s immune system.

However, some patients who are taking Viread are reporting problems with their bones and kidneys. Class action lawsuits and personal injury claims have already been filed against Gilead alleging that Viread, Truvada, Atripla, and similar medications can cause toxicity to the bones and the kidneys.

A 2018 Truvada lawsuit says that these medications have what is known as low bioavailability. This means that it is difficult for these to be absorbed into the patient’s body. For that reason, these HIV drugs would need to be ingested in larger amounts, which can be difficult for those patients who are already taxed with fighting off an HIV infection.

According to some patients who have come forward to take legal action, the manufacturer down played the side effects of Viread dosage by suggesting that doctors monitor the bone density in those patients who have a risk for osteopenia. However, many of the patients who have suffered bone density and kidney issues say they were not at risk of these prior to taking the medication.

The legal claims against the manufacturer allege that Viread and related medications continue to be supported on the market despite the fact the manufacturer knew about a safer medication that exposed the bones and kidneys to a much lower level of toxicity.

Many patients have already experienced kidney failure, bone fracture, osteoporosis, kidney toxicity, chronic kidney disease and bone necrosis. Some of these patients have chosen to take legal action by filing lawsuits against the manufacturer.
