The drug Uloric has come under fire in numerous studies and in lawsuits filed by patients who say they were never told about the risks of this gout medicine. A new plaintiff, Sidney L., states that proper information was not provided to the medical community or to patients about the risk profile linked to Uloric.

The most recent lawsuit surrounding the drug Uloric says that at the time the manufacturers marketed this medication that they were well aware of numerous adverse events and chose to withhold information about them from the FDA and the public. Uloric has been associated with heart events and other medical problems.

In particular, this lawsuit about the drug Uloric says that the defendants did not disclose the strong connection between serious cardiovascular events and the use of Uloric. After the medication was on the market, the FDA required that a Black Box warning be added to the medication to account for the additional risks related to heart events.

As alleged in the suit, however, tens of thousands of patients faced the risk of suffering from a serious cardiac event because the maker of the drug did not provide adequate information about the dangers of Uloric well in advance.

The drug Uloric is given to patients who have been diagnosed with the inflammatory disease gout. Gout is currently viewed as a metabolic disorder in patients and those most likely to get this diagnosis are men over age 50.

The plaintiff in those most recent lawsuit states that the treating physician prescribed Uloric for the treatment of gout in 2014. In May of 2018, however, the patient went through a serious cerebrovascular accident that led to necessary medical treatment.

The lawsuit states that the plaintiff had to cope with various Uloric side effects and damages because of this use of Uloric and that the medicine might not have been chosen if the true risk profile had been disclosed to the medical community or the public.

The plaintiff’s lawsuit states that the defendants ignored reports from healthcare professionals and patients about the failure of the medicine to perform as it had been intended to. The lawsuit details that the makers of the drug are accused of failing to do adequate testing in order to explain the risks and benefits to the medical community.

As detailed in the claim, for example, the makers of the medicine are accused of continuing to market the medication as safe and more effective than alternatives despite the issues reported by patients or details that could have been uncovered from clinical trials and more involved testing.
