The Terrorists Keep Claiming 9/11 Cancer Victims 17 Years LaterIt has been 17 years since the World Trade Center twin towers were hit by two passenger airplanes piloted by terrorists–yet 9/11 cancer victims are still suffering.

According to an article by The Guardian on the anniversary of the attack, living 9/11 cancer victims that are members of the World Trade Center Health program number 9,375.

Deceased 9/11 cancer victims total another 420—that is those that were members of the program—bringing the total figure close to 10,000.

There are an unbelievable 43,000 people who reportedly suffer from health problems related to breathing in the toxic fumes and debris present in lower Manhattan for the days, weeks, and months after the attacks.

The health effects often manifest in unexpected ways. According to the Guardian report, men—who normally only develop breast cancer at the rate of one in 100,000 annually—are joining the ranks of 9/11 cancer victims with a significant uptick in diagnosis.

Among the 9/11 cancer victims with breast cancer is John M., who was employed by the New York Mercantile Exchange a block away from the twin towers on Sept. 11, 2001.

After being assured the air quality in the area was fine, John went back to work a week after the horrific incident. According to John, the buildings were still smoldering and crumbling all around. The air was nastily pungent.

Nevertheless, John says he continued to work and eventually life went on as best it could after being a witness to such an event. John lived a very athletic life and was an accomplished marathon runner in training for an Ironman competition. During this training, he discovered the lump on his chest that turned out to be breast cancer—a disease for which he had no family history.

His disease is currently under treatment but it is not an isolated case. There have been 15 males recently diagnosed with breast cancer that are commonly linked to the terrorist attacks.

They may have gone to high school or college in lower Manhattan. They may have been or are city workers or first responders from the fire or police department. There is no discrimination when it comes joining the ranks of 9/11 cancer victims.

Two other men that are a part of this group, according to the Guardian article, are Michael G., a New York Police Department Sergeant, and Jeff F., a worker at a lower Manhattan data storage company. Michael says he sifted through debris containing human remains without thought of his short-term or long-term safety for months after 9/11.

Jeff F. went quickly back to work after the attacks to help people get computer systems up and running. Both had a hard time figuring out that their bizarre diagnosis with male breast cancer had anything to do with these activities 17 years prior.
