In a new lawsuit, a plaintiff says that she developed Xarelto internal bleeding symptoms without a proper warning from the drug’s manufacturer. She alleges in her lawsuit that the manufacturers of the drug did not do enough to warn patients or their doctors that life-threatening internal bleeding could occur.
Plaintiff Valeria K. has initiated a Xarelto internal bleeding symptoms lawsuit against the manufacturers of the popular medication. Valeria alleges in her lawsuit that the manufacturers of this medication are responsible for warning the medical community and prospective patients about the risks of severe and life-threatening internal bleeding, but they allegedly failed to do so for Xarelto.
If not caught quickly by the patient or by a doctor, an internal bleed can become fatal. Patients taking Xarelto say that they were never told to be on the lookout for Xarelto internal bleeding symptoms, arguing the makers of the drug put them at risk of unnecessary and serious injuries.
The lawsuit alleges that the defendant has engaged in wrongful and negligent conduct in connection with the manufacture, design, promoting, advertising, development and the distribution of the medication Xarelto.
The lawsuit further contends that the defendants concealed knowledge about the defects from the general public and the plaintiff by representing that the medication was safe and effective following sufficient testing for the intended use. The plaintiff is seeking equitable relief, punitive damages and compensatory damages tied to taking Xarelto as recommended by a physician.
Valeria says that she was originally prescribed the medication in April 2016. She received a Xarelto prescription for the treatment and prevention of atrial fibrillation while a resident of Louisiana. Shortly after beginning her Xarelto regimen, Valeria says she was admitted to the hospital for unspecified internal bleeding. She says that her Xarelto internal bleeding symptoms developed quickly and that she did not know about the risk of severe internal bleeding while taking the drug.
The plaintiff says she received additional medical treatment and blood transfusion for her injuries because of the Xarelto internal bleeding symptoms. The Xarelto internal bleeding symptoms lawsuit says that the plaintiff’s injuries were approximately and directly caused by Xarelto and that the plaintiff has, as a result, suffered damages including past and future medical expenses and severe pain and suffering.
The plaintiff in the Xarelto internal bleeding symptoms lawsuit says that she could not make an informed decision about using Xarelto because she was not given appropriate details regarding the risks of the drug when it was prescribed. She says that at the time when she was taking the medication, she followed all instructions from her physician, but developed Xarelto internal bleeding symptoms quickly that required hospitalization and put her at risk of severe and life threatening injuries.
The Xarelto Lawsuit is Case No. 2:18-cv-12658 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
