aneurism written on a page. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has released a communication suggesting that one of the most damaging kinds of Avelox side effects can include a sudden and life-threatening aortic aneurysm. Avelox is one common form of fluroquinolone antibiotics used to treat infections.

Certain antibiotics carry a risk of side effects and symptoms, but Avelox side effects can be severe or even life threatening if the patient is not aware of them and fails to get medical attention immediately.

The Food and Drug Administration recently updated their warning about Avelox side effects and related medications. Certain patients maybe at higher risk of suffering from Avelox side effects, such as aortic aneurysm.

Studies published between 2015 and 2018 and individual reports of patient problems, including direct reports of Avelox side effects, were used to create this warning.

Fluoroquinolone antibiotics have often been turned to as a standby treatment for pneumonia, respiratory infections, plague, anthrax exposure and urinary tract infections.

These medications are sold under numerous different names, including Levaquin, Cipro and Avelox. Patients can take these medications through injection or orally. According to some research, however, there are dangerous Avelox side effects associated with taking the medication. Avelox and other similar drugs can reportedly cause aortic aneurysm.

The condition is basically a bulging artery that can grow quickly and burst suddenly, causing fatal bleeding if the person is not able to get medical attention immediately.

Certain categories of patients are more at risk from suffering from these aortic aneurysm Avelox side effects. These include people who have already been diagnosed with high blood pressure, the elderly, people with a prior background of blockages or other blood vessels.

The FDA Commissioner recently warned that these possible Avelox side effects should be taken seriously, specifically by patients who are known to be at risk of an aortic aneurysm or those patients who already have an aortic aneurysm could be at significant risk of a life threatening event.

Fluoroquinolones, however, might still be used for patients who do not fall into these high risk categories.

The Food and Drug Administration will now be requiring that the risks of Avelox side effects associated with sudden and dangerous aortic aneurysms will be added to the prescribing information and patient medication guides. The FDA also shared that they will continue to monitor patient reports and complaints about Avelox side effects and other safety concerns that might be connected to the antibiotics.

Anyone who has a higher chance of developing an aortic aneurysm or someone who has already lived through an aortic aneurysm should be especially mindful if they are prescribed fluoroquinolone antibiotics. Another treatment option might be safer for those patients who are already at risk. An aortic aneurysm or dissection can be a life threatening event and one that involves fatal bleeding.

Patients who are not aware of the risks and are not able to appropriately monitor for the side effects might not even realize what is happening until it is too late and could even pass away as a result of the bleeding event.
