Actos Lawsuit Alleges the Type II Diabetes Drug Caused Bladder Cancer
By Scott Hardy
A Californian diabetic has filed the latest Actos lawsuit alleging the drug caused him to develop bladder cancer and tumors. Michael Whitaker alleges in his lawsuit that he was diagnosed with bladder cancer after he used Actos to treat his type II diabetes.
Nichael’s Actos bladder cancer lawsuit also states the he took Actos exactly as prescribed by his doctor but still developed cancer.
Diabetics who are taking Actos need to know what the symptoms of bladder cancer are, especially if they have taken Actos for more than one year as it allegedly increases the risk of bladder cancer by 40%. Actos lawsuits allege that bladder cancer is a side effect of Actos and that Takeda Pharmaceuticals knew about the risk of bladder cancer for patients who take Actos but didn’t do enough to warn them of the danger.
Michael’s lawsuit claims that he suffers “pain, suffering and mental anguish” because of the bladder cancer Actos allegedly caused. Michael’s wife is also included in the Actos bladder cancer lawsuit as she claims a “loss of consortium” due to Michael’s cancer. Both husband and wife are seeking compensation for the injuries, medical expenses and other financial damages incurred because of the bladder cancer.
If you are showing signs of bladder cancer you should contact your doctor immediately and should be treated as soon as symptoms are detected. Symptoms of bladder cancer include tumors which may cause blood in the urine, painful or frequent urination, or straining during urination. In addition, other common signs of bladder cancer include fatigue, incontinence, weight loss and bone pain or tenderness. If you are experiencing these symptoms you should see your doctor immediately so bladder cancer or tumors can be ruled out. If you are experiencing these symptoms and are diagnosed with bladder cancer or tumors you should speak with an Actos lawyer to see if you are a good fit to file an Actos class action lawsuit or an Actos personal injury lawsuit. Patients filing Actos bladder cancer class action lawsuits or individual lawsuits allege that they should have been warned of the severe potential side effects of Actos. Bladder cancer due to Actos may lead to death and surviving family members have filed Actos lawsuits against Takeda Pharmaceuticals. In addition, the spouse or surviving family members of a patient who took Actos may be able to file a lawsuit, even if the spouse hasn’t passed away.
