Actos Whistleblower Lawsuit Claims Takeda Hid Bladder Cancer Risks
By Matt O’Donnell
A recent Actos whistleblower lawsuit is adding fuel to claims raised in hundreds of Actos injury lawsuits filed by patients who suffered severe side effects of the diabetes drug. The whistleblower, Dr. Helen Ge, accuses the drug’s manufacturer of influencing reports of adverse Actos side effects in an effort to subdue findings that Actos increased the risk of congestive heart failure and bladder cancer. According to the 2012 Actos whistleblower lawsuit, Actos “is not as safe as Takeda has led the FDA, healthcare professionals and the general public to believe. Rather, the FDA and the public were led to believe that Actos is safer because Takeda failed to properly report all of the Actos-related adverse events to the FDA.”
