Walden University TCPA class action settlement

A Walden University settlement resolves claims the school violated federal and state telemarketing laws with unsolicited calls to consumers who requested not to be contacted.

The settlement benefits individuals who received calls from Walden University after requesting not to be called since July 1, 2021, for Florida residents or since June 6, 2018, for all others.

According to plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit, Walden University repeatedly contacted consumers without their consent even after they had requested to not receive further phone calls. These calls allegedly violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and Florida Telephone Solicitation Act.

Walden University is a private university that offers online undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

Walden University hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay an undisclosed sum to resolve the TCPA class action lawsuit.

Under the terms of the Walden University settlement, class members who received unsolicited calls to a number with a Florida area code can receive $400. Class members who received unsolicited calls to a number without a Florida area code can receive $97.50.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is Sept. 28, 2024.

The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for Oct. 29, 2024.

To receive a Walden University settlement payment, class members must submit a valid claim form by Sept. 28, 2024.
