The General Automobile Insurance Services Inc. has agreed to a class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims that it denied uninsured motorist (UM) and underinsured motorist (UIM) benefits. The settlement amount is not disclosed.

The General insurance settlement benefits individuals who were insured under The General’s auto insurance policy that originally provided unstacked UM and/or UIM benefits but were later added to the policy by endorsement. Class members must have made a claim for UM and/or UIM benefits under their policy and been denied these benefits.

According to allegations made in The General insurance class action lawsuit, the company wrongfully denied UM and UIM benefits to policyholders. Plaintiffs in the case say that they were entitled to these benefits under their policies but were denied due to the company’s unlawful practices.

The General is an auto insurance company that offers a variety of coverage options. The company has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay an undisclosed sum to resolve the class action lawsuit.

Under the terms of The General auto insurance settlement, class members can receive a cash payment based on the value of their policy’s UM and UIM coverage.

Payments will vary depending on the coverage value listed in each class member’s policy declaration.
