The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) sent lawsuit settlement notices to nearly 160,000 consumers who declined to get lasik done at LasikPlus or Joffee MediCenter due to an alleged bait-and-switch sales tactic.

The FTC settlement benefits consumers who visited LasikPlus or Joffe MediCenter for a Lasik consultation but declined Lasik because they didn’t qualify for the advertised price.

According to the FTC, LasikPlus reeled consumers in with advertisements claiming that they could fix their vision for less than $300. In reality, only 6.5% of consumers were eligible for this price and most were quoted between $1,800 and $2,295 per eye, the FTC contends.

LasikPlus is a Lasik provider with locations around the country.

The FTC ordered LasikPlus to pay $1.25 million to resolve the false advertising lawsuit.

Under the terms of the settlement, eligible consumers can receive a cash payment. According to the FTC, payments will vary depending on many factors, including the number of valid claims filed. No payment estimates are available at this time.

There is no exclusion or objection deadline for this settlement.

The settlement was finalized in a consent decree dated March 15, 2023.

In order to receive a payment, consumers must submit a valid claim form by May 20, 2024.

I was also told that I had a lifetime policy. I kept a copy of all my paperwork. When it is time to cash in, I wonder if they will still honor it.

They lied to get extra $$ from me.

I was also told it was a A Lifetime Policy! I paid $1500 per eye on 11/2000.
When I called to get my vision corrected I was told they do not have any more files from that long ago!!!
