Belkin has agreed to a class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims it misrepresented the charging capacity of its power banks.
The Belkin settlement benefits consumers who purchased a Belkin power bank in California between Jan. 2, 2016, and April 16, 2024.
Plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit claim Belkin misrepresented the charging capacity of its power banks by using milliampere-hour (mAh) numbers that referred to the size of the power bank’s internal battery instead of the amount of power the device could actually deliver.
Belkin is a tech company that sells a variety of accessories, including power banks.
Belkin has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay an undisclosed sum to resolve the false advertising class action lawsuit.
Under the terms of the Belkin settlement, class members can receive either a $5 voucher for use on Belkin’s website or a $2 cash payment.
The company also agreed to change the packaging on its power banks to clarify that the mAh number refers to the internal battery and not the power bank’s output.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is March 30, 2026.
The final approval hearing for the Belkin power bank class action settlement is scheduled for June 12, 2026.
To receive settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by March 30, 2026.
