Aramark Uniform & Career Apparel agreed to a $1.25 million settlement to resolve a class action lawsuit claiming that it failed to pay overtime wages to trainees working at Aramark.

The settlement benefits current and former account executives, facility sales specialists and first aid sales specialists who worked for Aramark Uniform & Career Apparel since Oct. 18, 2019.

According to the wage-and-hour class action lawsuit, Aramark wrongfully classified trainees as exempt from overtime when they should have been eligible for overtime pay during their training periods. As a result of this misclassification, the company allegedly deprived workers of their overtime wages during their nine-week training periods.

Aramark Uniform & Career Apparel, now known as Vestis, is a uniform delivery, laundering and workplace supply provider.

Aramark hasn’t admitted wrongdoing but agreed to a $1.25 million settlement to resolve the overtime class action lawsuit.

Under the terms of the settlement, class members can receive a cash payment based on the number of training weeks they spent working at Aramark. Eligible workweeks will be assigned to class members using Aramark’s records. Class members received a payment estimate with their mailed notice.

There is no exclusion or objection deadline for the settlement.

The court has already granted the settlement approval.

To receive a settlement payment, class members must submit a valid claim form by Jan. 26, 2024.
