Keenan & Associates agreed to a $33.8 million class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims it failed to prevent a data breach that occurred in August 2023.

The settlement benefits individuals who were notified by Keenan & Associates that their personal information was or may have been compromised in a data breach between Aug. 21 and 27, 2023.

The class action lawsuit claims Keenan & Associates failed to prevent a data breach that occurred between Aug. 21 and 27, 2023. The Keenan and Associates data breach reportedly compromised sensitive information, such as Social Security numbers and health insurance data.

Keenan & Associates is an insurance company that provides coverage to schools, municipalities and other organizations.

Keenan & Associates has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $33.8 million settlement to resolve the data breach class action lawsuit.

Under the terms of the settlement, class members can receive up to $10,000 for documented losses related to the data breach. These losses can include identity theft, fraud, bank fees, credit expenses and more. Class members who did not suffer documented losses can receive a pro rata share of the settlement fund.

All class members can receive three years of credit monitoring and insurance services. These services include up to $1 million in identity theft insurance and three-bureau credit monitoring.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is Oct. 15, 2025.

The final approval hearing for the Keenan and Associates settlement is scheduled for Nov. 14, 2025.

To receive settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by Oct. 30, 2025.


Who’s Eligible

Individuals who were notified by Keenan and Associates that their personal information may have been compromised in a data breach that occurred between Aug. 21, 2023, and Aug. 27, 2023.

Potential Award

Up to $10,000 for reimbursement of certain documented losses or a pro rata cash payment from the settlement fund.

Proof of Purchase

Claim form must be accompanied by documentation, such as credit card statements, bank statements, invoices, telephone records and receipts.
