Mitsubishi Electrical Visual Solutions America Inc. has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit stemming over allegations that its LaserVue TV contains a malfunctioning defect.
Lead plaintiff Robert Verdie claims that the “Optical Engine” component in Mitsubishi LaserVue televisions contains a defect that causes video and color anomalies. Verde alleges that Mitsubishi is liable for breach of express and implied warranties as well as violations of California consumer protection laws and the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.
Class Members who purchased a Mitsubishi LaserVue TV that is either malfunctioning or that you spent money on to repair the issue may be entitled to reimbursement under the Mitsubishi class action settlement.
The malfunction covered under the Mitsubishi LaserVue class action lawsuit settlement includes any video anomaly or other issue that interferes with the TV’s normal or intended functioning as described in its original warranty. However, it does not include any cosmetic damages of the TV including the screen and cabinet.
While Mitsubishi disputes all allegations in regards to a defect with its LaserVue TV’s, they have agreed to the settlement to avoid further litigation costs.

Who’s Eligible
Mitsubishi television class action settlement Class Members include all U.S. residents who either purchased or received as a gift a Mitsubishi LaserVue DLP Television, models L65-A90, L75-A91, L75-A94, or L75-A96 between Jan. 1, 2008 and July 13, 2015.
Those who purchased or acquired a Mitsubishi LaserVue TV for commercial use or resale are excluded from the Settlement Class.

Mitsubishi LaserVue class action lawsuit settlement Class Members can receive one of the following awards:
- A free repair – which includes any necessary replacement parts, shipping costs, and/or in-home service costs or a payment
- Payment for the TV – equal to the value of the original purchase price, less a percentage of that price reflecting a monthly depreciation from the date of purchase but not less than $500
- Repair reimbursement – Class Members who submit a reimbursement claim and show proof of repair costs can be compensated for the out-of-pocket expense of repairing their LaserVue TV
Proof of Purchase
The Mitsubishi LaserVue class action lawsuit settlement requires that along with the filed Claim Form, Class Members include a copy of the receipt showing the purchase date of the television. Class Members are also required to include identifying information about TV including the serial number and a description of the alleged malfunction.
Claim Form Deadline
There are several filing deadlines, depending on the benefits you are seeking. NOTE: The Effective Date of the settlement is Jan. 25, 2016.
Reimbursement Claim Filing Deadline: July 23, 2016 UPDATED
Warranty Service Claim Filing Deadline:
- Within four years of the date you purchased your TV; or
- January 25, 2017 (whichever is later). UPDATED
