HopSkipDrive Inc. has agreed to a nearly $2 million class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims stemming from a data breach that allegedly exposed sensitive personal and medical information.

The HopSkipDrive settlement benefits individuals whose private information may have been compromised in a cybersecurity incident involving HopSkipDrive between May 31, 2023, and June 10, 2023.

According to claims made in the class action lawsuit resolved by this settlement, HopSkipDrive experienced a cybersecurity attack in which an unauthorized third party allegedly accessed certain database files. Plaintiffs allege the compromised data included names, addresses, dates of birth, driver’s license numbers, Social Security numbers and medical information.

Under the terms of the HopSkipDrive data breach settlement, class members may receive reimbursement for documented out-of-pocket losses of up to $5,000, reimbursement for lost time spent responding to the data breach and an additional cash payment. Class members may also receive two years of expanded identity theft and fraud monitoring services.

Settlement class members who submit a valid claim may be eligible for up to $5,000 in reimbursement for documented losses related to the data breach, up to $125 for lost time spent responding to the incident and an additional cash payment of $100, which may be adjusted on a pro rata basis.
