A $1.67 million Change Healthcare settlement resolves claims the company violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act while calling consumers on behalf of Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina.
The settlement benefits individuals who received robocalls or prerecorded calls between Jan. 10, 2019, and July 17, 2024, from Change Healthcare calling on behalf of Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina despite not being subscribers of BCBSNC or opting out from receiving these calls.
The telemarketing class action lawsuit claims Change Healthcare, under the brand My Advocate, contacted consumers for Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina who were never BCBSNC customers or who opted out of the calls. According to the class action lawsuit, these calls violated the federal TCPA.
