A California man has added his own lawsuit to the growing pile of litigation filed over lung cancer from asbestos, this time against General Electric Company, as well as a slew of other companies involved in his alleged exposure to asbestos.

The plaintiff, John N., alleges that General Electric, along with companies including Asbestos Corporation Ltd., Foster Wheeler LLC, and The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, are responsible for his lung cancer from asbestos

Over the course of several decades, from the 50s through the 90s, John says he worked regularly as a pipefitter, a welder, a mechanic, and more for Standard Oil, the U.S. Air Force, C&H Sugar, and others.

In these positions and at these various locations, John alleges he was exposed to a slew of asbestos-containing products but was not warned of or protected against the risks of asbestos exposure.

Unfortunately, John was diagnosed with lung cancer from asbestos in September 2014, which he alleges was caused by exposure to asbestos caused by the companies named in his lawsuit.

John filed his lawsuit on Dec. 18, 2018, in the Superior Court of California for the County of San Francisco. The lawsuit was filed on multiple counts, including negligence, products liability, fraud and deceit, and several others.

Background of Asbestos

Asbestos
, a naturally occurring mineral, was once widely used commercially for electrical and building insulation, car parts, and more. However, asbestos has been found to carry extreme risks, including the risk of developing lung cancer from asbestos.

As a result, asbestos is now much more heavily regulated. Many who were exposed to asbestos before these regulations were passed are only now being diagnosed with lung cancer from asbestos. Unfortunately, patients may not be properly diagnosed until cancer has reached a later and more dangerous stage of development.

Lung Cancer from Asbestos

In the United States, lung cancer is both the most common and the most deadly. Indeed, more Americans die from lung cancer each year than any other single type of cancer, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Lung cancer from asbestos is one common way that people end up diagnosed with this devastating disease.

The risk of developing lung cancer from asbestos is higher for those who are exposed more over time. This is most common for those consistently exposed to asbestos over years because of exposure at their jobs.

Filing a Lawsuit Over Lung Cancer From Asbestos

Those who have been diagnosed with lung cancer from asbestos, and their families, have filed lawsuits and in some cases received millions of dollars in compensation. These lawsuits were filed against their employers, as well as companies who manufactured the asbestos-containing products, who allowed this exposure but failed to give adequate warning about the dangers of asbestos.

If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with lung cancer from asbestos, you may be able to file a lawsuit. While filing a lawsuit cannot take away the pain and suffering caused by lung cancer from asbestos, or bring a loved one back to life, it can at least help to alleviate the financial burden caused by medical expenses, lost wages, and more.

The Lung Cancer from Asbestos Lawsuit is Case No. CGC-18-276752, in the Superior Court of California for the County of San Francisco.
