Metal Hip ImplantAfter a recall of the device, patients are filing legal claims over injuries they link with defective Stryker LFIT femoral heads.

The recall applies to multiple Stryker hip implant devices that use the Stryker LFIT femoral heads components, including the following:

  • Stryker Accolade TMSF
  • Stryker Accolade 2
  • Citation stem
  • Meridian stem

Side Effects of Stryker LFIT Femoral Heads

The Stryker LFIT femoral heads have been connected with a variety of serious complications, including metallosis, or a kind of metal poisoning in the bloodstream.

Metallosis problems are often linked with metal-on-metal hip implants like the ones incorporating Stryker LFIT femoral heads. These kinds of hip implants allow its metal components to rub together.

Over time, this releases metals like cobalt and chromium into the bloodstream and surrounding tissue. The amount of metal released can be quite excessive, which leads to serious and even permanent problems.

On top of the risk of metallosis, Stryker LFIT femoral heads have also been connected with an increased risk of dislocation or dissociation.

For many patients, these complications can often require revision surgery to replace defective hip implants. Revision surgery itself can be painful and costly, and also opens patients up to further surgical problems.

The risk of revision surgery is high among those with metal-on-metal hip implants. According to a 2012 study published in Orthopedics, 95 percent of patients who suffered from failed metal-on-metal hip implant devices had to go through revision surgery within three years of initial implant.

Stryker LFIT Femoral Heads Recall

Stryker has recalled its products containing Stryker LFIT femoral heads. In response, an ever-growing number of patients who have been implanted and affected by this device are coming forward with allegations of damage it has caused.

Plaintiffs allege that Stryker failed to adequately warn patients of the serious complications associated with Stryker LFIT femoral heads, placing company profit over patient safety.

According to hip implant lawsuits filed over the Stryker LFIT femoral heads, patients have suffered from a number of serious and sometimes permanent injuries including hip implant failure, serious physical pain, emotional and mental distress, medical and surgical expenses, and loss of enjoyment of life.

Patients who have suffered from the implantation of Stryker LFIT femoral heads have been forced to undergo revision surgery to help alleviate complications.

Filing a Claim Over Stryker LFIT Femoral Heads

If you or someone you love was implanted with a metal hip implant containing Stryker LFIT femoral heads and have suffered from these or other side effects, you may be able to file a hip implant lawsuit.

Filing a claim can result in financial compensation that can help with medical expenses and other financial losses felt as a result of these injuries.

Spouses of those who have suffered from defective metal-on-metal hip implants may also be able to sue for what is known as loss of consortium, or the loss of intimacy with their spouse due to Stryker LFIT complications.

Although filing a legal action cannot undo the damage done by complications of Stryker LFIT femoral heads, it can help to alleviate the financial expenses caused by medical costs and lost wages.
