Xarelto Linked to Gastrointestinal BleedA Xarelto lawsuit has been filed based on a gastrointestinal bleed allegedly experienced by a patient.

Plaintiff Iva O. alleges that the manufacturers of Xarelto put her and other recipients of the medication at risk for life-threatening internal bleeding.

Xarelto is a popular medication that is often given to prevent the risk of system embolism and stroke in patients who have been diagnosed with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation to treat pulmonary embolism and deep vein thrombosis and to manage to prophylaxis of DBT for patients undergoing knee or hip replacement surgery.

Unfortunately, many different patients treated with Xarelto have come forward to allege the dangers of a gastrointestinal bleed. A patient might not realize they have been affected by a gastrointestinal bleed until the go to the hospital and receive an official diagnosis.

The gastrointestinal bleed lawsuit alleges that the defendants knew about the risks associated with Xarelto, but failed to provide information about these to the medical community or the public in general. The gastrointestinal bleed lawsuit goes on to allege that defendants improperly and negligently failed to perform adequate tests during clinical trials to identify whether or not the risks of Xarelto out weight the possible benefits.

For this reason, the plaintiff in the gastrointestinal bleed lawsuit is seeking compensatory damages as a result of the prescribed recommendation of Xarelto which caused the plaintiff to suffer life-threatening bleeding events.

The gastrointestinal bleed lawsuit says that the plaintiff has suffered lasting and permanent injuries, diminished enjoyment of life, and physical pain as well as mental anguish. The plaintiff alleges that used Xarelto from January 2013 to August 2014 at the direction of her physician. However, on Aug. 21st, 2017, she says she suffered a life-threatening gastrointestinal bleed that was diagnosed as irreversible.

If not captured and treated quickly in the hospital, internal bleeding can be fatal. Other anticoagulant drugs on the market have long had reversal agents available to help those users who developed life-threatening internal bleeds so that doctors could step in immediately in the event of a problem. Although a reversal agent for Xarelto has recently been approved for use, far too many patients have had no access to a reversal agent and deal with a gastrointestinal bleed after taking Xarelto.

As a result of the use of Xarelto, the plaintiff says she sustained dangerous injuries that generated costly medical bills. The gastrointestinal bleed lawsuit says that the manufacturers of the drug are responsible for failing to warn patients and doctors about the devastating risks associated with this medication.

If you or someone you know has already suffered a gastrointestinal bleed due to use of Xarelto, and you were never appropriately warned about these side effects, this could serve grounds to file a lawsuit.

The Gastrointestinal Bleed Xarelto Lawsuit is Case No. 2: 18-CV-06493-EEF-NBN filed in the United State District Court for the Eastern district of Louisiana.
