A Texas woman has filed a new lawsuit against Atrium over its Atrium C-Qur mesh, alleging that the device has caused serious and permanent injuries.
The plaintiff, Amy Reeves, says she was implanted with Atrium C-Qur mesh on June 13, 2014. Atrium C-Qur mesh and other mesh products are used to help repair the damage done to those who have suffered hernias. However, Amy’s Atrium C-Qur mesh failed to work properly, and instead caused a number of serious issues, some of which are lasting or permanent.
In response to these injuries, Amy chose to file an Atrium C-Qur mesh lawsuit. According to the lawsuit, the defective Atrium C-Qur mesh led to the following complications:
- Failure to incorporate
- Chronic pain
- Foreign body response
- Infection
- Scarification
- Excessive and chronic inflammation
- Adhesions to internal organs
- Abscess
- Seroma formation
- Panniculitis
- Others
Due to these serious complications, Amy’s Atrium C-Qur mesh was explanted on Aug. 5, 2015, just over a year after the implantation. However, the lawsuit also notes that although the mesh was explanted, surgeons were unable to remove the mesh in its entirety, leaving some of it behind, which may lead to further problems.
The lawsuit alleges that Atrium failed to adequately warn of these dangers, placing patients like Amy at considerable risk.
Amy filed her Atrium C-Qur mesh lawsuit on August 3 in the District of New Hampshire on multiple counts, including negligence, design defect, manufacturing defect, failure to warn, breach of express and implied warranties, fraudulent concealment, and several others.
