Essure accused of causing painful side effects

Essure birth control is manufactured by Bayer HealthCare, and is a permanent non-surgical birth control method.

The Essure procedure has been the subject of complaints alleging painful and dangerous complications, from rashes to excessive bleeding and organ perforation.

According to the company’s website, the Essure procedure is an extremely short process. It is completed in your doctor’s office and only takes about 10 minutes.

There is a short recovery period after this, but most women are sent home 45 minutes after the procedure. The website states that women should rest for a day or two after the procedure, but after that can go about life as usual.

The procedure involves two flexible Essure coils, constructed of metal and polyester, which are non-surgically inserted through the vagina and uterus, lodging inside the fallopian tubes. Over time, tissue develops around the Essure coils and eventually blocks conception.

Women who undergo the Essure procedure are required to come in for a check-up, making sure that the procedure went as planned and that the device will be effective.

The fact that the Essure procedure is non-surgical is an extremely attractive feature for many women. It is the only non-surgical sterilization procedure for women who want permanent birth control.

Hundreds of thousands of women have already chosen Essure birth control as their method of permanent birth control. However, since its approval in 2002, over 4,500 adverse event reports have been filed with the FDA over Essure complications. The large number of negative Essure birth control reviews helped prompt various government branches to take action.

The FDA convened an Advisory Committee to discuss Essure Safety and Effectiveness in September 2015, and Representative Michael Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania introduced legislation in November 2015 that, if passed, would require the FDA to withdraw approval for Essure.

Bayer HealthCare reportedly still stands by its product’s benefits and efficacy, believing that the birth control’s benefits outweigh its risks.

The company claims that its first priority is patient safety, and “we sympathize greatly with any woman who has experienced problems with Essure.”

Essure Procedure Birth Control Lawsuits

Women have reported a variety of negative side effects associated with Essure, from relatively simple bloating and rash complications to more severe issues such as excessive bleeding or organ perforation. Some women have reported experiencing miscarriages or ectopic pregnancies.

Some women have taken legal action against Bayer HealthCare, alleging that Bayer failed to adequately warn them of Essure side effects. According to Essure birth control lawsuits, these women were not made adequately aware of the potential Essure side effects linked with the device.

Essure side effects lawsuits allege that these devices and their risks were not thoroughly investigated, and were approved before their risks were discovered.

If you have suffered after being implanted with Essure sterilization, you may be able to file an Essure side effects lawsuit.

In general, Essure lawsuits are filed individually by each plaintiff and are not class actions.
