Weber-Stephen Products has issued a recall for more than 3.2 million metal wire bristle grill brushes due to a significant ingestion hazard. The Weber Grills recall affects various models sold across the United States.
The recall was announced on Feb. 26 and involves grill brushes with model numbers 6277, 6278, 6463, 6464, 6493 and 6494.
These wire bristle grill brushes feature either plastic or wood handles and measure between 12 and 21 inches. They were sold from 2011 through 2026 at major retailers like Lowe’s, Home Depot, Ace Hardware, Target and online platforms, such as Amazon and Weber.com.
The brushes were manufactured in China and Cambodia and distributed by Weber-Stephen Products, based in Palatine, Illinois.
According to the recall notice, the metal wire bristles can detach from the brushes, potentially sticking to grills or food, leading to serious internal injuries if ingested.
“Small metal wire bristles can detach from the brushes, stick to the grill or food, posing an ingestion hazard and risk of serious internal injuries that could require surgery,” the Weber Grills recall states.

Weber has acknowledged at least 38 incidents where the metal bristles detached, including four cases where consumers ingested the bristles and required medical treatment.
