Walmart pasta meals recall overview:

  • Who: Walmart is recalling 12-ounce packages of Marketside Linguine with Beef Meatballs & Marinara Sauce.
  • Why: The meals may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a harmful bacteria.
  • Where: The recall is effective across the United States.

Walmart has recalled its Marketside Linguine with Beef Meatballs & Marinara Sauce due to potential listeria contamination, affecting 12-ounce packages sold nationwide.

The pasta meals recall, announced Sept. 25 by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA FSIS), affects products that have “best if used by” dates ranging from Sept. 22 to Oct. 1, 2025, and bear establishment numbers “EST. 50784” or “EST. 47718” inside the USDA inspection mark.

The contamination was discovered after the producing company tested samples of pre-cooked pasta used in the meals, which tested positive for the bacteria.

“Consumers who purchased these products should not eat them and instead throw them away or return them to the store,” the recall notice advises.

Consumers should dispose of affected products, recall advises

The FSIS has issued a public health alert, emphasizing the severity of listeriosis, which can cause symptoms such as fever, muscle aches and gastrointestinal issues. The infection is particularly dangerous for older adults, pregnant women, newborns and individuals with weakened immune systems.

In pregnant women, it can lead to miscarriage, stillbirth or severe infection in newborns. “Persons in the higher-risk categories who experience flu-like symptoms within two months after eating contaminated food should seek medical care,” the recall notice states.

To address the issue, Walmart is advising consumers to dispose of the affected products or return them to the place of purchase for a refund.

The FSIS continues to work with the FDA, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and state health officials to investigate the contamination’s source and its potential link to an ongoing listeria outbreak involving chicken fettuccine alfredo meals.

For more information, consumers can contact Nate’s Fine Foods at 916-677-7303, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. PST. Additionally, food safety questions can be directed to the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 888-674-6854 or via email at [email protected].

Walmart says it has not received any reports of illness related to the recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Earlier this year, consumers sued Walmart alleging it falsely advertised its Great Value Macaroni & Cheese Original Microwavable Cup as free of artificial flavors and preservatives even though it contains citric acid, an artificial preservative and flavoring agent.
