viagra-melanoma-examStudies have recently shown that the popular erectile dysfunction medication Viagra could significantly increase the user’s risk of developing melanoma skin cancer.

Although the researchers have stated that they cannot definitely claim how great the risk of Viagra melanoma is, many have become concerned over the alleged side effects and have begun to take legal action against Pfizer for failing to warn against this potentially deadly side effect.

Viagra has been the go-to erectile dysfunction medication for years. The little blue pill has been used by millions of men across the country. competitors of Viagra.

Competitors Cialis and Levitra have been included in the claims that these erectile dysfunction medications can cause melanoma skin cancer.

About Melanoma

Melanoma is one of three kinds of skin cancer. Basal cell skin cancer and squamous cell skin cancer are both more common forms of skin cancer, but they are also easier to treat. Melanoma makes up for less than 2% of all skin cancer cases, but it causes the greatest number of skin cancer death.

Many individuals take great care to avoid getting melanoma or to catch the disease early. The melanoma itself tends to resemble a mole, but there are abnormalities that can signify that a person has melanoma and not an ordinary mole.

If the mole isn’t symmetrical, changes size, is an abnormal color, then an individual may want to have the mole checked by a medical professional. It was estimated that nearly 10,000 individuals died from melanoma skin cancer in the last year.

Viagra Melanoma

A study published in April 2014 found a significant melanoma skin cancer risk associated with Viagra. The study was published in JAMA Internal Medicine. Researchers from the Harvard School of Public Health, examined data spanning 10 years and 26,000 men.

They found that Viagra could increase the risk of melanoma skin cancer by as much as 84%. The researchers did not notice an increase in other forms of skin cancer.

While things like family history and sun exposure can increase the likelihood of developing melanoma, the researchers still found that Viagra melanoma may be a big concern. They determined that more research was needed to find out more about the potentially deadly side effect.

Some medical professionals have called all of the hype about Viagra melanoma misplaced.

A Viagra melanoma class action lawsuit investigation was launched in order to help plaintiffs potentially win compensation for Pfizer’s failure to warn, negligence, and more. Viagra melanoma lawsuits may be able to help victims win money for their medical costs, pain and suffering, time lost from work, and more.
