I also noticed when checking my acct online that recent purchases would remain “pending” for up to 3 or 4 days before actually “hitting the books” and being deducted from my account until I made a purchase that would cause a small overdraft. That purchase amt would “hit the books” immediately, causing an overdraft and incurring fees for that and all subsequent amts that would have normally remained “pending”. Pretty shady, UB.
There was a time when I was becoming so frustrated with Union Bank of California. Every time I turned around I was being charged an over draft fee. Then I realized for some reason they would give me $200.00 extra when I would use my debit card. That didn’t stop anything. Then it was the day and time or just the day if it was on a Friday. Then there was a time they extended the hours till seven. It didn’t matter if you made a deposit after five it still would not be posted till the next day. What a mess!
Guess what a new bank sent me a coupon for one hundred dollars if I opened a checking account. I had nothing to lose. I did and I have been with them for four years and I have had no trouble or overdrafts at all.
I am glad that something is being done with these corporations, we pay for everything and then wait for our reward. thank you judith
