Toyota recall overview:

  • Who: Toyota is recalling approximately 162,000 Tundra and Tundra Hybrid pickup trucks.
  • Why: A defect in the multimedia display may potentially increase the risk of a crash.
  • Where: The recall is effective in the United States.

Toyota has issued a recall for about 162,000 Toyota Tundra and Tundra Hybrid pickup trucks from the 2024 and 2025 model years due to a multimedia display defect that could lead to safety risks.

The recall, announced Jan. 23, affects certain 2024 and 2025 Toyota Tundra and Tundra Hybrid models.

The issue involves the multimedia display, which under certain circumstances, may become stuck on a camera view or display a black image. This malfunction can prevent the rearview camera image from appearing when the vehicle is in reverse, thereby increasing the risk of a crash with an object or person behind the vehicle.

The recall notice says the issue may mean the vehicle fails to meet federal safety standards and could increase the risk of a crash.

The notice says vehicle owners should address the issue promptly.

Toyota to issue software update free of charge

To address this issue, Toyota dealers will update the Parking Assist ECU software at no cost to the vehicle owners.

“Customers will be notified about this issue by late-March 2026,” the recall notice says. Additionally, Toyota has provided a customer support line for any further inquiries regarding the recall.

For more information about the Toyota recall, affected owners can contact Toyota at 800-331-4331.

Alternatively, they can visit Toyota’s official recall website or the NHTSA website to check if their vehicle is included in the recall by entering the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).

Toyota says it has not received any reports of injuries related to the Toyota recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Late last year, Toyota recalled 127,000 vehicles, including 2022-2024 Toyota Tundra, Lexus LX and 2024 Lexus GX vehicles due to the presence of “machining debris” in the engine.
