- Why: The recall is due to potential contamination with Salmonella.
- Where: The recall is active in Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
Williams Farms Repack LLC has issued a recall for several tomato products due to potential Salmonella contamination. The affected tomatoes were distributed in Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
The recall was announced on May 2 following a notification from Southeast Tomato Distributors on April 29 about possible contamination.
The products involved include various sizes and packaging, such as 5×6 25lb, 6×6 25lb, and 3ct trays, among others, under the H&C Farms label. The tomatoes were distributed between April 23 and April 28, 2025.
Salmonella can cause serious infections, particularly in vulnerable populations, and symptoms may include fever, diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal pain.
“In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections, endocarditis, and arthritis,” the recall states.
Consumers urged to return or discard affected tomatoes
The recall notice urges consumers who have purchased these products not to consume the tomatoes and to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund, or they may discard the product.
The recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the Food and Drug Administration.
Williams Farms Repack LLC is taking proactive measures to address the issue by recalling the affected products and informing consumers about the potential health risks.
Consumers with questions may contact Jason Breland at 843-866-7707 or 843-599-5154 Monday–Friday 8:00 am–5:00 pm EST.
The company has not received any reports of illnesses associated with the recalled tomatoes and is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.
In other food recall news this year, Cabot Creamery issued a butter recall in March due to Coliform bacteria, which can indicate the presence of more harmful pathogens like E. coli and Salmonella.
