Sunbeam Products has issued a recall for more than 1.29 million Oster French Door Countertop Ovens due to a defect that can cause the doors to close unexpectedly, presenting a burn risk to users.

The recall, announced on Sept. 25, affects several models of Oster French Door Countertop Ovens, specifically models TSSTTVFDXL, TSSTTVFDDG, TSSTTVFDMAF and TSSTTVFDDAF.

These ovens feature spring-loaded bilateral glass doors with metal handles, and the model number can be found on a label at the back of the oven or on the original packaging. The ovens were sold at major retailers, such as Bed Bath and Beyond, Costco, Walmart, and online platforms like Amazon.com and Overstock.com from August 2015 through July 2025, priced between $140 and $250.

According to the Oster recall, the defect involves the oven doors unexpectedly closing, which has resulted in 95 reported incidents of burn injuries, including two cases of second-degree burns.

“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled countertop ovens and contact Sunbeam Products Inc. to receive a free repair kit,” the recall notice advises.

Sunbeam offers free repair kits to address the issue

Sunbeam Products is addressing the issue by providing a free repair kit to affected consumers. The kit includes a clip-on device designed to add extra holding force to keep the oven doors open when in use. Installation of the kit is straightforward and requires no tools, with instructions and a QR code link to an installation video.

For more information about the Oster recall or to request a repair kit, consumers can contact Sunbeam Products toll-free at 800-334-0759 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday.

Additional details are available on Oster’s recall page or by clicking “Product Recalls” on its website.

The company is not currently facing legal action over the Oster recall, but Top Class Actions monitors recalls closely as they can sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

In 2024, a federal jury awarded a Colorado woman $55.5 million after determining that an exploding Sunbeam pressure cooker caused her severe injuries.
