Jeep recall overview:

  • Who: Stellantis NV, also known as FCA US LLC, is recalling more than 11,000 Jeep Wagoneer S vehicles.
  • Why: The recall is due to a potential issue with the liftgate hinge cover that could detach, increasing the risk of a collision.
  • Where: The recall is active in the United States.

Stellantis NV, operating as FCA US LLC, has announced a recall of 11,767 Jeep Wagoneer S vehicles from model years 2024 to 2026.

The Jeep recall addresses a defect in the liftgate hinge cover, which may not be securely clipped into position and could detach, potentially leading to road hazards and increasing the risk of accidents.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued the recall notice on March 12.

The recall notice highlights that there are no specific warnings for drivers, but a rattling noise or visibly unseated hinge covers on the Jeep Wagoneer S may indicate the issue.

“The liftgate hinge cover may not be properly clipped into position and may detach from the vehicle,” the Jeep recall states.

Stellantis dealers to offer free inspections and repairs

To address the issue, Stellantis will begin sending notification letters to vehicle owners on May 1. Owners are advised to take their vehicles to a dealership, where the hinge cover will be inspected and, if necessary, repaired or replaced at no cost.

For more information, consumers can contact Stellantis customer service at 1-800-853-1403.

Additionally, vehicle identification numbers involved in this recall are expected to be searchable on the NHTSA recall website.

Stellantis says it has not received any reports of injuries related to the recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Meanwhile, Stellantis is facing claims that it sold Jeep Wrangler 4XE and Grand Cherokee vehicles with a battery defect that makes them prone to fires while failing to correct the issue despite multiple recalls.
