Blue Wave recall overview:

  • Who: Blue Wave is recalling 13,400 above-ground pools and SereneLife 80.
  • Why: The compression strap on the pools may allow children to access the pool, posing a drowning risk.
  • Where: The recall is active in the United States.
  • How to get help: If your child was injured or passed away after climbing into an above ground pool by using the external restraint strap, you may qualify to file a lawsuit.

Blue Wave and SereneLife Home have issued a recall for approximately 13,400 and 80 above-ground pools, respectively.

The recalls affect brand pools that are 48 inches and taller, as the compression strap encircling the pool legs can act as a foothold, potentially allowing children to climb into the pool unsupervised.

The above-ground pool recalls were both announced on Dec. 18. The Blue Wave recall includes up to 15 NB19 models, such as NB19790, NB19891 and NB19905, among others. The SereneLife recall includes models SLPORND15 and SLPORND18.

Blue Wave above-ground pools were sold at Home Depot, Lowe’s and Dunham’s Sports retail stores nationwide and online at Amazon.com, Walmart.com and Wayfair.com from January 2021 through July 2025. The pools, manufactured in China, range in price from $600 to $2,000, depending on size and model.

SereneLife pools, also made in China, were sold on Amazon.com, Walmart.com, Wayfair.com, Target.com and the SereneLife website from December 2021 through May 2025 for between $300 and $500.

According to the above-ground pool recall notices, the design flaw in the compression strap creates a foothold that poses a drowning hazard. “The compression strap that surrounds the outside of the pool legs may create a foothold, allowing a child access to the pool, posing a drowning risk,” the recalls state.

Consumers advised to secure pools until repairs or refunds are made

The Blue Wave recall notice advises consumers to contact the company for a free repair kit to address the issue. In the meantime, pool owners should ensure children cannot access the pool unattended or drain the pool until the repair is installed.

SereneLife urges consumers to stop using the recalled above-ground pools immediately and contact the company for a full refund. Consumers will need to provide photographic evidence of destruction or disposal of the product to receive a full refund from SereneLife Home.

For more information on the above-ground pool recall, consumers can visit Blue Wave’s website or contact them directly at (800) 603-0475.

SereneLife Home can be contacted toll-free at 888-619-6770 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday. Alternatively, customers can send an email at [email protected] or visit the recall website.

Additional safety resources are available at the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s website.

Neither company has received any reports of injuries related to the recall so far. The companies are currently not facing legal action over the recalls, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

In July, Bestway, Intex and Polygroup issued a recall for more than 5 million above-ground pools due to the same concerns.
