Samsung has recalled more than 1.1 million electric ranges as they can be turned on by accident, leading to extensive fire damage, injuries and death.
The recall was published Aug. 8 to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission website. It applies to about 1,120,905 Samsung Electric Slide-In Ranges with the model numbers listed here.
According to the recall, the front-mounted knobs on the ranges can be activated by accidental contact by humans or pets, posing a fire hazard.
So far, Samsung has received over 300 reports of unintentional activation of the front-mounted knobs by humans or pets since 2013.ย
These ranges have been involved in approximately 250 fires, it says.
At least 18 fires caused extensive property damage. Approximately 40 injuries have been reported, eight of which required medical attention, and there have been reports of seven fires involving pet deaths.
Keep children and pets away from knobs, recall says
Consumers using the recalled ranges without knob locks or covers are cautioned to keep children and pets away from the knobs, to check the range knobs to ensure they are off before leaving the home or going to bed, and to not leave objects on the range when the range is not in use, the recall says.
Consumers with Wi-Fi enabled ranges can enable the โCooktop Onโ notification on the Samsung SmartThings app to receive alerts on their smartphone when a cooktop burner is turned on.
The recalled products were sold at Best Buy, Costco, The Home Depot, Loweโs and other appliance stores nationwide, and online at Samsung.com. Depending upon the model, the ranges were sold between May 2013 and August 2024 for between $1,250 and $3,050.
The model number is located on the ranges on the inside upper left corner of the oven door or inside the storage bin located on the bottom of the oven. Consumers should contact Samsung to receive a free set of knob locks or covers compatible with their model of electric slide-in range to install.
Meanwhile, ZLINE has also recalled a number of gas ranges, as the oven of the gas ranges can emit dangerous levels of carbon monoxide.

PLEASE ADD ME.. I bought this stove about a year and a half ago brand new and had the same issue
I have had the burners turn on numerous times due to my brushing the knobs inadvertently. VERY dangerous!!
My knobs are very sensitive I have burnt myself and food due to the knobs turning.

Iโve had 2 pizza boxes go in fire because if my stove , completely unsafe , how can I get my money back for this hazardous stove ? Be safe I do not recommend buying this stove at all . The knobs are extremely sensitive & turn the burners on with a simple nudge .
The stove with the top buttons is the same way, we almost had 2 fires so be careful
I wish they would just change the knobs because the knob locks are not a look I like when I bought the Samsung. What if we do not like the aesthetics of their solution?
I got extremely burn because of this issue.. 7 months ago. Sad
Itโs about time I bought my stove 10 months ago 4 months later because of those damn knobs been so sensitive to the touch, my stove got turned on and I ended up in urgent care with 3rd and 2nd degree burn to 4 of my fingers.
Little too late for that recall.
I would like to speak to a lawyer about how Money Gram ๐ญ put me in bad situations by not allowing me to send or received money. Now they are sending me letters to go to a money gram and collect money from them.
