Rosina Food Products is recalling approximately 9,500 pounds of its Bremer Italian-style meatballs due to potential contamination with metal fragments. The recall affects products distributed nationwide through Aldi supermarkets.
The meatball recall was announced by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) on Feb. 22.
Products affected by the Aldo recall include 32-ounce bags of fully cooked, frozen “Bremer FAMILY SIZE ITALIAN STYLE MEATBALLS,” which contain about 64 meatballs per package. These products were produced on July 30, 2025, and have a “best by” date of Oct. 30, 2026. The establishment number “EST. 4286B” can be found inside the USDA mark of inspection on the packaging.
The issue was discovered following a consumer complaint about metal fragments found in the meatballs. While no injuries have been reported, the FSIS advises consumers to either dispose of the product or return it to the place of purchase.
Consumers urged to check meatball packages
Consumers are advised to check their refrigerators and freezers for the affected meatball packages. The FSIS has emphasized the importance of not consuming these products due to the risk of metal contamination.
“Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase,” the Aldi recall notice says.
The FSIS is conducting recall effectiveness checks to ensure that the products are no longer available to consumers.
Rosina Food Products is working to address the issue by recalling the affected products and notifying customers. The company has provided contact information for consumers with questions or concerns. Customers can reach Rosina Food Products Customer Service at 1-888-767-4621 or via email at [email protected].
Rosina Food Products says it has not received any reports of illness or injury related to the recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.
Last year, Great Lakes Cheese recalled more than 1.5 million bags of shredded cheese, also due to concerns over metal fragment contamination, from Aldi, Walmart and Target supermarkets.
