The Remington recall, announced Aug. 14, 2025 by the Consumer Product Safety Commission, affects products sold exclusively online via Walmart Marketplace, Target Marketplace, and Amazon from March 2024 through June 2025 for between $25 and $32.
The hair dryers measure approximately 8.5 inches long, 11.6 inches high and 3.6 inches wide. The recall pertains specifically to model number D3190DCDN, which are purple with black accents and feature three black operating buttons on the handles.
The primary concern is the lack of an immersion protection device, which is crucial for preventing electrocution if the hair dryers come into contact with water while plugged in.
Consumers advised to cease use immediately and contact Remington, recall states
The recall notice warns that this defect could lead to “death or serious injury from electrocution or shock” and that “consumers should immediately unplug and stop using the recalled hair dryers.
Consumers are instructed to unplug the devices, cut the power cord in half and submit a photo of the hair dryer to the recall registration portal on the Remington Products website.
Empower Brands, in collaboration with Spectrum Brands Inc., has taken steps to ensure consumer safety by offering a full refund to those who purchased the defective product.
The company has provided a toll-free number and an email address for consumers seeking more information about the recall. Empower Brands reports that no injuries or incidents have been associated with the recalled hair dryers so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions monitors such recalls closely, as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.
