Payments Go Out in Chase Payment Protection Class Action Settlement

By Kimberly Mirando

ChasePayments from the Chase Payment Protection class action lawsuit settlement have started to go out, and the checks are much larger than most Class Members expected.

When we first reported on the Chase Payment Protection settlement (Kardonick v. JPMorgan Chase & Co.) in 2011, plaintiff lawyers estimated that Class Members would get $15, $30 or $60 cash, depending on their type of claim. Only 190,000 people submitted valid claims to the $20 million class action lawsuit settlement, however, so some Class Members are getting checks for hundreds of dollars.

“Today I was happily surprised to get in the mail a settlement check for $453.66 for my share from the Net Settlement Fund,” reports one Class Member.

Others are reporting they received much less – only $38 – while others say they’ve received payments of between $75 and $550. Some Class Members have even received two checks.

The extra money highlights how important it is to submit a claim to a class action lawsuit settlement, even if the estimated payment seems low. In some cases, if too few valid claims are received, your payment could be much higher than anticipated.

Congratulations to our Top Class Action readers who submitted valid claims to the Chase Credit Card Payment Protection Class Action Lawsuit Settlement! The Settlement Administrator notes that if you submitted a claim and do not receive a check by June 30, 2013, you should contact them at www.KardonickSettlement.com.
