Ovarian Cancer Patient Files New Talc Powder Cancer LawsuitAn Idaho resident recently filed an ovarian cancer lawsuit against Johnson & Johnson, alleging she was diagnosed with talc powder cancer as a direct result of exposure to the company’s product.

The plaintiff, Gloria G., alleges she began using talcum powder products from Johnson & Johnson in the 1980s and continued using them as part of her regular feminine hygiene routine until 2006.

Unfortunately, in 2006, Gloria was diagnosed with talc powder cancer. She alleges that this diagnosis was caused by exposing herself to dangerous talc powder, which caused her to develop ovarian cancer.

This is far from the first lawsuit to be filed against Johnson & Johnson over talc powder cancer. Indeed, thousands of people have filed these kinds of lawsuits already, alleging that they were not adequately warned about the risk of cancer associated with the use of these products.

Talc powder cancer litigation alleges that the use of talcum-based baby powder for feminine hygiene purposes (in the genital area) can lead to diagnosis with ovarian cancer. This use of talcum powder is quite common, and baby powder products have been advertised for this purpose to generations of women. By filing a lawsuit, plaintiffs hope to recover compensation for their injuries.

Gloria filed her talc powder cancer lawsuit on July 24, 2018, in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. The lawsuit was filed on multiple counts, including failure to warn, defective manufacture and design, breach of express and implied warranties, negligence, fraud, loss of consortium, and several others.

The Risk of Talc Powder Cancer

Talcum-based baby powder products, including Johnson & Johnson’s popular Shower to Shower baby powder, have been extremely popular for decades. Baby powder is of course primarily advertised for use with babies to prevent diaper rash, but it has often been marketed as a feminine hygiene product. Generations of women have used talcum powder products regularly for decades as part of their daily routine.

Unfortunately, a growing body of research points to a possible link between talcum powder and cancer. This may mean that women who have been exposed to the powder for years are at serious risk.

Because there are few early symptoms of ovarian cancer, this dangerous disease is often not discovered until much later, in the last stages of the cancer, which makes this baby powder side effect even more dangerous. Cancer discovered at a later stage means that any treatment will be much less effective, and the likelihood of fatality greater.

Filing a Talc Powder Cancer Lawsuit

If you or someone you love has regularly used Johnson & Johnson’s talcum baby powder product as part of a regular hygiene routine, and have since been diagnosed with talc powder cancer, you may be able to file a lawsuit. Lawsuits allege that Johnson & Johnson failed to warn consumers about the risk of talc powder cancer.

While filing a lawsuit cannot take away the pain and suffering of a patient suffering from talc powder cancer, and cannot bring a loved one back to life, it can help to alleviate the financial burden caused by medical expenses and lost wages.

The Talc Powder Cancer Lawsuit is Case No. 3:18-cv-12024-FLW-LHG, in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.
