old spice deodorant allegedly causes irritation

Across the country, numerous consumers are complaining that they had suffered Old Spice deodorant burns after applying it to their underarms.

Manufacturer Procter & Gamble is facing an Old Spice class action lawsuit alleging that at least 100 consumers have suffered from Old Spice deodorant burns.

Some consumers reported receiving burns after only using Old Spice deodorant “a few times”, with numerous experiences posted on Facebook and other websites.

For example, numerous injury reports and complaints have been published on consumeraffairs.com by users of Old Spice deodorant or parents who bought the product for their teenage sons.

One such consumer Jean, a mother from Pennsylvania, purchased an Old Spice deodorant product of her son. According to her statement, her 15 year old son developed a large dark red, burning painful ring on his armpit.

Needless to say, Jean was upset to later learn that a number of other men have had similar experiences.

In another complaint from consumeraffairs.com, North Carolina resident Kevin, says he used Old Spice deodorant for several days before developing problems. He described his armpits being severely burned, and red and purple in color.

He hwent to the emergency room soon after and was placed on antibiotics and steroids to treat the burns. Kevin also pointed out that the Old Spice deodorant burns healing process is difficult, due to the underarm skin constantly breaking.

Old Spice Deodorant Lawsuits

Proctor & Gamble could be facing over $5 million in damages for the alleged Old Spice deodorant burns, with medical experts concerned over how the Old Spice deodorant can damage skin.

Dr. Christine Choi Kim states that any antiperspirant, not just Old Spice deodorant, could caused adverse skin reactions.

Dr. Kim explains many antiperspirants may contain aluminum-based compounds, which can cause skin irritation. In addition, the skin of the armpit is thin and sensitive, which increases the chances of deodorant burns.

These allegations have led to the Old Spice class action lawsuit, with allegations from numerous men alleging Old Spice deodorant burns. The complaints allege that the deodorant line is unreasonably dangerous, and does not provide the benefit that would come along with its intended use.

Procter & Gamble communications director Damon Jones disputes the injury claims, pointing out millions of men use their product each year with only 0.01% reporting reactions.

Consumers who bought Old Spice deodorant and suffered burns may be eligible for legal action, and should contact a specialized lawyer.
